Advertise

A New Year, a new Morton

The last quarter of 2005 was busy to say the least. Dave was busy with this site’s content as well as rolling out new software for advancedIntellect. Terri Morton had been helping Dave with the advertising for 123aspx but a new job with Telligent Systems has been keeping her very busy. This is where the new Morton comes in. I’m Carl Morton, Terri’s husband, and also a web developer. Terri is turning over the coordination of the advertising for Dave’s site to me, and to be honest I’m very happy that Dave has allowed me to help to manage the advertising. If you have any questions on advertising here, please contact me at advertise@123aspx.com.

Thanks,
Carl Morton

Advertise with 123aspx.com

123aspx.com's advertising program dynamically rotates standard-sized ad banners throughout the site with links to advertisers' Web sites. When a user refreshes a page or visits another page, a different banner is displayed.  We also offer a newsletter ad which is located at the top of our daily newsletter.

Why should you advertise with 123aspx.com?

123aspx.com provides value. Simple as that. Every day THOUSANDS of developers, managers, and competitors use www.123aspx.com  . Get your product or service shown to more Microsoft .NET related people, than anywhere else. Every week scores of new resources are added to www.123aspx.com and developers have come to depend upon it as their leading source of no-nonsense .NET information. You too can be affiliated with www.123aspx.com .

How does the advertising program work?

I’ve tried to keep this program as simple as possible. Basically, there are 2 locations to place banner ads on 123aspx.com, and each of those locations have two slots, and a maximum number of advertisers per location. To advertise, you simply purchase a one of those advertising spots.

Location Minimum Impression Qty Number of Ads/Page Maximum Number of Advertisers Cost
($/Advertiser)  each Month
Est. Min $/1000 Impressions Est. Max $/1000 Impressions
Top and Bottom 468x60 Banner Ads 1,200,000 2 10 $200 $0.17 $1.67
125x125 Right column Ads 1,800,000 3 20 $150 $0.08 $1.67
Text Newsletter Ad
(250 characters)
250,000 1 1 $800 $3.20 $3.20

A Few Questions....

So What does this mean?
Here’s a little more detailed explanation of how this works. Take for example, the location of Top and Bottom Banner ads. There are two 468x60 banners found on each page: at the top and the bottom. A maximum of 10 advertisers will be allowed to fill these ads. The ads are shown at random. There are 1,200,000 impressions shown between these two slots and shared between the maximum of 10 advertisers. It costs $200 to be an advertiser in this location. If you are the only advertiser, your cost is as little as $.17 (17 cents) per 1000 banner impressions. If all 10 advertising spots are filled, your advertising campaign will roughly cost $1.67 per 1000 impressions. These $/impressions are only shown for comparison, as that is how most people judge the cost of a campaign.

Likewise, say you wanted to place a 125x125 banner on www.123aspx.com. Again, there are only 3 slots available per page, resulting in an estimated 1,800,000 impressions. These slots and impresses are shared between a maximum of 20 advertisers, resulting in a campagn that can cost as little as $.08 (8 cents) per 1000 impressions (if you are the only advertiser), or a maximum of $1.67 per 1000 impressions, if all 20 advertising spots have been filled.

The newsletter only has 1 main sponsor at the top of the email. Approximately 250,000 newsletters are sent out each month.

Why So Cheap?
Well, this we run this site in our spare time, and we're not looking to make a ton of money off of it. We want to hook up with 10 – 20 advertisers that know a good value when they see it. These advertisers will keep coming back. We don’t have to deal with 100s of companies, and the advertisers get the benefit knowing only a limited number of companies will be advertising on www.123aspx.com.

Can I get a discount if I purchase for more than 1 month?
Believe it or not, yes. If you purchase 6mo in advance, you get a 10% discount. This does not apply to the newsletter, only banner ads.

How large can the images be?
The banner images must be 468x60 and can only be maximum of 20K file size. NO FLASH is allowed.

The right column ads can be 125x125 or 125x140 and can only be a maximum of 15K file size.

The newsletter text ad can only be a maximum of 250 characters.

Can I use an animated gif?
Animated graphics will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We prefer animated graphics that transition slowly from frame to frame; graphics with repeated flashing will likely not be accepted.

So how does advertising space get purchased?
First you must email me at advertise@123aspx.com  and check to see if advertising space is available. Just a simple note with a url to your website, and say "Hi Terri, I want to advertise on www.123aspx.com do you have any slots for the top and bottom or right column position available?" will do. Then, once the ads have been approved, I will provide send you a secure URL to purchase the advertising spot. And that’s it.

Can I change out the image\ads?
Yes, images for your advertisement can be changed out once per week. The newsletter text ad can also be changed once per week.

Does www.123aspx.com provide any type of advertising statistics?
Not at this time. I have found most customers ended up tracking their click throughs, so I made this program as simple as possible.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at advertise@123aspx.com

Thanks!
Terri Morton
